10 oz (300g) cream cheese, softened
1 egg
3 tbsp (24g) powdered sugar
1 tsp (5g) vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Prepare the Dough:
In a small bowl, combine 1/4 cup of the lukewarm milk with the yeast and a teaspoon of sugar. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and salt.
Add the egg, vanilla extract, softened butter, and the remaining lukewarm milk. Pour in the activated yeast mixture.
Mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
2. Make the Cream Cheese Filling:
In a mixing bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, egg, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
3. Assemble the Rolls:
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
Spread the cream cheese filling evenly over the dough.
Roll the dough tightly from one long side to the other, creating a log shape. Pinch the seam to seal.
4. Slice and Rise Again:
Cut the rolled dough into 12 equal pieces and place them cut-side up in a greased baking dish.
Cover the dish with a towel and let the rolls rise again for about 30 minutes.
5. Bake:
