Air Fryer Beef Jerky
• 1 tsp garlic powder
• 1 tsp onion powder
• ½ tsp black pepper
• ½ tsp smoked paprika (or regular paprika)
• Optional: ½ tsp red pepper flakes for a spicy kick
• Optional: 1 tbsp liquid smoke for a smoky flavor
Instructions:
Preparation of the Meat:
1. Trim the Meat: Begin by trimming any excess fat from the beef. Fat does not dry well and can cause the jerky to spoil faster. Slice the beef into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick. For more tender jerky, freeze the beef for about 30 minutes before slicing—it makes the meat easier to cut evenly.
2. Prepare the Marinade: In a bowl, mix together the soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, paprika, and optional red pepper flakes or liquid smoke.
3. Marinate the Beef: Place the beef strips into a zip-top bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over the meat. Ensure all the strips are coated evenly. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to penetrate.
