When the hottest days of the year arrive, we always try to protect ourselves from the heat in our homes. But this is not always possible: sometimes our homes are so hot that it is worse than outside.
Although air conditioning is the quickest solution to this problem, not everyone has one or wants to keep it on all the time.
That is why we propose some tricks and tips to keep the house cool during the hottest days without necessarily having to resort to fans or air conditioning.
Ventilate the house in the morning
This measure is not only important to exchange the air, avoid bad smells and prevent the formation of mold, but it is also a fantastic trick to keep the air in our homes fresh.
The reason is simple: in the morning the temperatures are lower, so it is the best moment to ventilate the house and let in new air. Leave the windows open for at least 30-40 minutes.
Close the shutters
Although it may seem obvious, it is important to close the shutters of balconies and windows to prevent heat (not light) from entering through them.
Not only does this keep the air cooler, but it also helps reduce air conditioning costs as the room heats up less.
Insulate the windows
Window insulation is associated with winter as it serves to prevent cold from entering. However, heat can also enter and it is important to insulate the windows even in summer.
If you cannot install awnings that block the sun’s rays, you can use thick, large curtains in a color that repels heat, such as white or gray.
Avoid turning on the lights
With the shutters closed, visibility is reduced, but it is important not to turn on the lights as they can further heat the room.

If you cannot install LED bulbs, which generate much less heat, leave small slits of light through the blinds.
Change the bedding
Changing the bedding once a week is essential to maintain good personal hygiene.
But heat also plays a role: clean bedding tends to be cooler and therefore ensures better sleep.
