1. Prepare the Oven and Baking Dish

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish generously with melted butter or line it with parchment paper for easy cleanup. Setting up your baking space in advance ensures that the biscuits bake evenly and turn golden brown.

2. Mix the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine 4 cups of Bisquick baking mix and 1 cup of sour cream. Using a fork or pastry cutter, mix these ingredients until the sour cream is fully incorporated and the mixture has a crumbly texture. The sour cream adds a rich, tangy flavor and moist texture to the biscuits.

Next, pour 1 cup of 7 Up soda into the bowl. Stir the mixture gently until it forms a sticky dough. Be careful not to overmix, as overworking the dough can lead to dense biscuits.

3. Shape the Biscuits

Dust your work surface with a small amount of Bisquick baking mix to prevent sticking. Carefully turn out the dough onto the floured surface and sprinkle a bit more Bisquick on top of the dough. Gently press the dough to a thickness of about 1 inch.

Using a biscuit cutter or a round glass, cut out biscuits from the dough. Avoid twisting the cutter as you press down, as this can compress the layers and affect the rise of the biscuits. Aim to get about 12 biscuits from the dough. Gather any leftover scraps and reshape them to cut out additional biscuits.

4. Arrange the Biscuits in the Baking Dish

Pour 1/2 cup of melted butter into the prepared baking dish, making sure the butter is evenly spread across the bottom. Place the biscuits into the dish, allowing them to touch slightly. This helps them rise taller and creates a soft, fluffy texture.
