10. Repeat the operation until all the ingredients are used up, finishing with a layer of biscuits.
11. Cover the charlotte with a plate or lid and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or ideally overnight.
12. When ready to serve, carefully unmold the charlotte onto a serving dish and decorate with lemon zest or fresh fruit, if desired.
