Mini Valentine Shortbread Cookies

Step 1: Prepare the Dough

  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
  2. Add vanilla extract and salt, mixing until well combined.
  3. Gradually add the flour, stirring until a soft dough forms. If using food coloring, mix it in at this stage for a festive touch.

Step 2: Shape the Cookies

  1. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about ¼-inch thickness.
  2. Use mini heart-shaped cookie cutters to cut out shapes and transfer them to a parchment-lined baking sheet.

Step 3: Bake the Cookies

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C).
  2. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  3. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
