Effective Homemade Solution to Clean Pee Off Furniture and Carpets
Step-by-Step Cleaning Process:
1. Blot the Area:
For fresh urine stains, start by blotting the affected area with paper towels or a clean cloth to absorb as much liquid as possible. Avoid rubbing, as this can spread the stain further.
2. Prepare the Cleaning Solution:
In a spray bottle, combine 1 cup of white vinegar with 1 cup of warm water.
Add 1 tablespoon of baking soda to the mixture. The baking soda helps neutralize odors and lift stains.
3. Apply the Solution:
Spray the homemade cleaning solution generously onto the urine-stained area on furniture or carpets. Ensure the area is well-saturated but not soaked.
4. Let It Sit:
Allow the cleaning solution to sit on the stain for about 10-15 minutes. This gives it time to break down the urine compounds and lift the stain from the fibers.
5. Blot and Rinse:
After the solution has soaked in, blot the area again with a clean cloth or sponge to absorb excess moisture and lift the stain.
If cleaning furniture, use a damp cloth to rinse the area lightly.
For carpets, you can rinse the area with clean water or use a wet-dry vacuum to extract the cleaning solution.
6. Optional: Use Dish Soap for Stubborn Stains:
If the stain persists or if dealing with older stains, you can add a few drops of liquid dish soap to the cleaning solution for added cleaning power. Mix well before applying to the stain.
7. Dry and Deodorize:
Allow the cleaned area to air dry completely. Open windows or use fans to aid in drying and reduce odors.
