Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and brown sugar. Mix until well combined. Add the egg and vanilla extract, and mix until smooth.
Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
Add Chocolate Chips: Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed in the batter.
Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not completely clean).
Cool and Cut: Allow the treats to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely before cutting into squares or bars.
