Chimney Sweep’s Tip for Keeping a Chimney Fire Going ALL Night.

Do you have trouble keeping a fireplace fire going all night? Whether it’s a fireplace or a stove fire, it’s not so easy to keep it going when you’re asleep!

No one wants to get up at night to feed it… So how do you make sure you have embers when you wake up the next morning?

Luckily, the other day the chimney sweep came to the house and gave me his trick to keep the fire burning all night. The trick is to put the logs on a bed of embers and cover them with ashes. Check it out:

How to do it
1. Before going to bed, make sure you have a nice bed of red hot embers.

2. Place four logs of dense wood (oak for example) in the fireplace.

3. Using the pliers, place them against each other so that they are tight.

4. Wait until the logs have started to burn.

5. Using the shovel, cover the logs with ash to prevent the wood from burning too quickly.
